Artist Statement

Kelsie White is a Ballarat based illustrator and painter, who creates bright and vibrant watercolour and acrylic paintings featuring nature. Kelsie has a Cert III/IV in Graphic Design and Printing through the Central Institute of Technology, Perth and has spent the last 10 years creating artwork for sale via her business, Kelsie White Designs. Her work is primarily illustrative and features on products such as cards, notebooks, prints and homegoods.

Kelsie uses her strong understanding of illustration to create artwork. Pieces are loose, expressive and full of colour. After spending the last five years creating, teaching and sharing her love of watercolour, Kelsie is now venturing into the world of large scale acrylic canvas paintings to document her journey into motherhood. She also explores and employs printmaking techniques and philosophies from Riso printing, letterpress and etching to create her artwork. Kelsie is always striving to push the boundaries of colour, emotion and creating artwork that leaves the viewer optimistic, happy and reflecting on what the artwork brings up for them.

Kelsie’s work is backed by her passion for community and sharing knowledge. She is drawn to subjects or mediums as a way of connecting with others. She volunteers and works with the creative community of Ballarat and beyond to make the arts sector a stronger and more vibrant place.
